Hellroaring and Thunder

We backpacked to the junction of the Hellroaring Creek and Yellowstone Rivers in Yellowstone Park. Got caught in a thunderstorm on the way in and had to don the rain gear in a hurry.

I drove across central Wyoming today following the Oregon Trail. This view is just east of South Pass where the emigrants crossed the continental divide.

Fort Bridger was a busy place

I’m in SW Wyoming at Fort Bridger. It was built by Jim Bridger in 1843 and became a popular stop on the Oregon, California and Mormon Trails.

Farewell Bend

This is Farewell Bend near Ontario in SE Oregon. The pioneers stopped here before tackling the Blue Mountains to the north on the way to Pendleton. The Snake River is running pretty high here.

Oregon Trail Interpretive Center

The Oregon Trail Interpretive Center is located near Baker City, Oregon on the actual Trail.

I’m doing the Oregon Trail backwards. I started in Oregon City this morning and followed the Barlow Trail over Mt Hood.
