SE Oregon

Saturday, May 24th, 2008

I escaped from Bryce Canyon through a snow flurry a couple of days ago. I’m on Malheur Lake near the Wildlife Refuge.

I did a CCW loop around the Steens Mountains today. Get the best burgers and shakes in SE Oregon at Fields Station. Here’s a view of the Alvord Desert on the east side.

The Loneliest Road

Wednesday, May 21st, 2008

US 50 goes coast to coast through the heart of the country. Life magazine did a profile a few years ago and called it “The Loneliest Road in America.” This in on the stretch between Lake Tahoe and Utah, just east of Ely, Nevada.

I’m hanging out in Ashland today. It looks like the deserts are hitting 99 degrees already! I think I’ll stay north till things cool off.

This is Lithia Park this morning.

Ready to Roll (Finally!)

Tuesday, May 13th, 2008

The Battery Galley and Footrest are done. The Waeco Refrigerator ought to be able to run for a couple of days off the grid.

I’m heading for Medford for tonight. I think I’ll head over toward the east side of the Sierras tomorrow.
