Anza-Borrego State Park

I drove south through Palm Springs and along the west shore of the Salton Sea today to get to the park. Some of the earliest and best wildflower blooms have been ocurring here. Here’s a shot looking north from the Visitor Center at Borrega Springs.

I checked out the wildflower bloom at the Badaja Trail near the south entrance. Here’s a Beaver Tail Cactus on the nature trail.

Cottonwood Spring

I explored the Cottonwood Spring area at the south edge of the park yesterday. This is where most of the blooming is occurring. Here’s one of a pair of Black Throated Sparrows that were buzzing me in the wash below the spring:

Hellroaring and Thunder

We backpacked to the junction of the Hellroaring Creek and Yellowstone Rivers in Yellowstone Park. Got caught in a thunderstorm on the way in and had to don the rain gear in a hurry.
